2014 Verizon IndyCar Team-By-Team Preview: Bryan Herta Autosport

Bryan Herta Autosport returns for it's third full-time season in IndyCar and they return with a rookie driver who won three races in Indy Lights in 2013.  The team has not won a race since the 2011 Indianapolis 500.

2013 Bryan Herta Autosport Review:
Wins: 0
Best Finish: 10th (St. Petersburg, Toronto 2, Houston 1).
Poles: 0
Best Start: 5th (Belle Isle 1).
Final Championship Position: 24th (Alex Tagliani), 25th (JR Hildrebrand), 30th (Luca Filippi).

2014 Driver:

Jack Hawksworth
The British driver will make his IndyCar debut at St. Petersburg after finishing fourth in the 2013 Indy Lights championship. Hawksworth won three Lights races (St. Petersburg, Toronto and Baltimore), two poles and had six podiums in 2013 after winning the then-Star Mazda championship in 2012. Hawksworth tested for Rahal Letterman Langian Racing, Dale Coyne Racing and BHA during the offseason before finally signing a deal with BHA. He also tested a GP3 car for Status Grand Prix during the offseason.

Number to Remember: 4. Amount of finishes off the lead lap on ovals for Hawksworth in seven career oval starts in the Mazda Road to Indy.

Prediction/Goals: Hawksworth is going to struggle on ovals in his first season in IndyCar. On road and street courses however, Hawksworth will get a few top tens. He won't be in contention for rookie of the year but will find himself in a battle with Aleshin for second best rookie. His goal for 2014 should be to finish all oval races while making strides toward the front of the field on road and street courses.

Remember, the first round of the 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series season is the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and can be seen live March 30th at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
