Simon Pagenaud Makes His 4th Long Beach Start on Sunday |
Jack Hawksworth was the top rookie in third, ahead of the defending Long Beach winner Takuma Sato and the most recent winner in the Verizon IndyCar Series, Will Power rounded out the top five.
Josef Newgarden was sixth, one spot down from his final position in first practice. Ryan Briscoe was the top Ganassi car in seventh. Justin Wilson was eighth ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya and Ryan Hunter-Reay rounded out the top ten. Five of the seven Long Beach winners in the field were in the top ten. For the second consecutive session, Honda had six cars in the top ten.
Scott Dixon was eleventh, ahead of fastest from first practice James Hinchcliffe and his Andretti Autosport teammate Carlos Muñoz. Mike Conway was fourteenth ahead of Marco Andretti. Tony Kanaan was sixteenth ahead of the Hondas of Oriol Servià and Mikhail Aleshin. Helio Castroneves was nineteenth and Carlos Huertas rounded out the top twenty.
Graham Rahal was twenty-first with his former teammate Charlie Kimball and Sebastián Saavedra rounding out the session.
One second covered first through nineteenth with 1.4354 seconds covering the field. Mike Conway and Carlos Huertas each ran the most laps in the second session, 24. Ryan Hunter-Reay and Oriol Servià each ran a session-low 16 laps.
IndyCar will have one final practice at 1:00 p.m. ET before qualifying takes place at 4:15 p.m. ET.
