Neil Alberico repeated his winning efforts from race one in race two of the U.S. F2000 triple-header at Mid-Ohio and is closing on Canadian Scott Hargrove in the championship standings. Alberico beat Hargrove by 6.490 seconds with Peter Portante rounding out the podium. RC Enerson backs up his second in race one with a fourth in race two ahead of Garrett Grist.
Three Europeans took the next three positions. Norwegian Henrik Furuseth was sixth ahead of Frenchman Florian Latorre and Dutch driver Jeroen Slaghekke. Jason Wolfe and Jesse Lazare rounded out the top ten. Danilo Estrela's poor results continued in race two where the Brazilian retired four laps shy of the finish.
Garrett Grist will be on pole for race three with Alberico joining him on the front row. Hargrove and Enerson will start third and fourth with Portante and Furuseth on row three, Slaghekke and Felipe Donato on row four, Wolfe and Lazare on row five and Latorre and Estrela on row six. Race three will take place at 9:10 a.m. ET
After his longest winless drought of his Pro Mazda career (two races), Matthew Brabham was back on the top step of the podium after race one today at Mid-Ohio. Brabham hit the grand chelem leading every lap, from pole while setting fastest lap. Shelby Blackstock made it an Andretti Autosport 1-2 with Diego Ferreira rounding out the podium. Spencer Pigot finished fourth after starting eleventh. Juan Piedrahita was fifth ahead of Kyle Kaiser. Lloyd Read, Kyle Connery, Julia Ballario and Jose Gutierrez rounded out the top top. Pre race favorites Nicolas Costa and Scott Anderson retired at laps nine and seven respectively.
Brabham is on pole for race two with Ferreira next to him. Blackstock and Costa start on row two ahead of Pigot, Zach Meyer, Piedrahita, Kaiser, Read and Connery. Gutierrez, Anderson and Ballario round out the grid for the championship class. Race two begins tomorrow at 10:05 a.m. ET.
