Hamilton Remains On Top in Abu Dhabi

For the second consecutive practice session, Lewis Hamilton topped the time sheet with his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg in tow. The Brit laid down a lap of 1:42.113 seconds in the session 0.083 clear of his German teammate. 

Kevin Magnussen made it three consecutive Mercedes-powered cars in his McLaren-Mercedes. The Dane wrapped up his final Friday practice session as a rookie 0.782 seconds back of the former McLaren driver Hamilton. For the second consecutive session, Sebastian Vettel was fourth 0.846 seconds behind the Mercedes. Valtteri Bottas rounded out the top five, 0.111 seconds behind the German. 

Daniel Ricciardo was sixth, 0.113 seconds back of Bottas. Kimi Räikkönen jumped up to seventh in the final Friday practice of the session. The Finn was 0.306 seconds behind the Australian. Jenson Button was eighth in what could have been the final Friday practice of his Formula One career. The Brit was 0.014 seconds behind the Ferrari of Räikkönen. Daniil Kvyat was 0.043 seconds behind Button with Felipe Massa round out the top ten, 0.012 seconds behind the Russian and 1.445 seconds back of Hamilton. 

Sergio Pérez was 11th and the final driver to run a lap in the 1:43-second bracket. Pérez was followed by Pastor Maldonado and his Force India teammate Nico Hülkenberg. Jean-Éric Vergne dropped to 14th in the second session with Esteban Gutiérrez rounding out the top fifteen. He was followed by his Sauber teammate Adrian Sutil as both drivers will be making their final starts for Sauber this weekend.

Romain Grosjean was 17th followed by the Caterham of Kamui Kobayashi and Will Stevens. The nineteen drivers to complete a lap were covered by 4.944 seconds. Fernando Alonso did not complete a lap after a mechanical failure for the second consecutive weekend. He had a failure in Brazil abbreviate his second Friday practice.

Free practice three will take place tomorrow at 5:00 a.m. ET with the final qualifying session of the 2014 season set for 8:00 a.m. ET. NBCSN will have live coverage of qualifying tomorrow morning.
