Prost Wins Another Pole Position

The Frenchman Nicolas Prost remains the only driver to score pole position in Formula E history as he will start the second round of the season from pole position from Putrajaya. Prost took pole position with a lap of 1:21.779 (68.232 MPH). Joining him on row one will be Oriol Servià after being 0.231 seconds slower than Prost. The Spaniard started 11th at Beijing. Servià's Dragon Racing teammate Jérôme d'Ambrosio will start third, ten positions better than his spot on the grid at Beijing. Sam Bird will start fourth as he was 0.456 back of Prost.

Daniel Abt qualified fifth with Jarno Trulli joining him on row three. The German and Italian were separated by 0.005 seconds and Trulli was 0.568 seconds back. Karen Chandhok ended up seventh, 0.833 seconds back. Nelson Piquet, Jr. qualified eighth but had another accident. Nick Heidfeld and Bruno Senna rounded out the top ten and 1.037 seconds separated Prost and Senna.

Matthew Brabham qualified 11th for his Formula E debut. He will be joined on row six by another driver making their Formula E debut, António Félix da Costa. Stéphane Sarrazin and Franck Montagny make it an all-Frenchman row seven. Michele Cerruti rounded out the top fifteen, trailing Prost by 2.078 seconds.

Ho-Pin Tung ended up 16th followed by Sébastien Buemi and Katherine Legge. Jaime Alguersuari and Beijing winner Lucas di Grassi failed to complete a lap in the session and will round out the final row.

By winning pole position, Prost has secured another three points toward the championship and now sits on six points, jumping him up into a tied for seventh with Servià.

The Putrajaya race is set to run at 1:00 a.m. ET. Fox Sports 2 will have live coverage with Fox Sports 1 rebroadcasting the race at 4:00 a.m. ET.
